This 1965 Porsche 356C coupe was acquired by the current owner in 2018 after having been refurbished and modified between 2009 and 2014. Work included disassembling the car, replacing the floor pans, media-blasting the body, a repaint in Bali Blue, reupholstering the seats and door panels, rebuilding the radio and instrumentation, a 12-volt conversion, and installing 14″ Fuchs wheels, a Nardi steering wheel, and a Liberty exhaust system. Power is from an overbored Porsche 912-sourced flat-four that has converted to electronic fuel injection, and power is routed to the rear wheels through a rebuilt four-speed manual transaxle with a tall-ratio final gear. This 356C is now offered by the seller in California on behalf of the current owner, a New York retail dealer, with a copy of the Kardex, service records, photographs from the refurbishment, and a Georgia title.

Originally finished in Champagne Yellow, the car was disassembled, the floor pans and door skins were replaced, and the body was media blasted, epoxy primed, and repainted in Bali Blue during the refurbishment. Exterior features include painted bumpers with chrome trim and overriders, twin engine cover grilles, and a luggage rack. The seller notes paint chips and touch-up paint on the nose.

Polished 14″ Fuchs wheels have black-painted recesses and are mounted with 185/75 Toyo Extensa A/S tires. The steering box and brake calipers were rebuilt, and slotted brake rotors were installed along with a dual-circuit brake master cylinder.

The cabin features tobacco leather upholstery on the seats, door panels, and dash pad as well as square-weave carpets, woven floor mats, and a body-color dashboard. LED lighting has been added beneath the dashboard, and the Blaupunkt push-button radio was rebuilt and is connected to concealed USB input ports behind the ashtray cover. The clock was converted to a quartz movement, and rubber seals were replaced during the refurbishment. A slide-in smartphone mount has been added to the ashtray assembly.

The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames gauges that were rebuilt by North Hollywood Speedometer in March 2012 including a tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 50k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The Porsche 912-sourced flat-four was reportedly rebuilt, overbored, and converted to electronic direct fuel injection by Liberty Motorsports of Costa Mesa, California. The car features a Pantera EFI fuel-injection system, and additional work completed includes line-boring the case, porting the head, performing a 12-volt conversion with a replacement wiring harness, and replacing the lifters, crank camshaft gears, heater box, and J pipes. Other components installed during the rebuild include:

  • Zims Autotechnik alternator
  • Elgin camshaft
  • Crower balanced rods
  • Shasta 90mm pistons and jugs
  • Shasta crankshaft
  • Denso fuel injectors
  • Direct-injection throttle-bodies
  • Holley fuel pump
  • Fuel-Injected 1965 Porsche 356C Coupe

The 741 four-speed manual transaxle was rebuilt by Vic Skirmants in 2011 and has been modified with a replacement flywheel and a tall-ratio fourth gear. A Liberty exhaust system has been installed.

The sale includes photographs and records from the refurbishment.

A scan of the Kardex lists factory colors, special equipment, and the original owner along with the chassis, engine, and transmission serial numbers.
